Visa may soon introduce cryptocurrencies as a payment option
Visa, the world’s giant card payment organization, may soon add cryptocurrencies as their payment option. Visa CEO Alfred Kelly revealed that his company is thinking of adding cryptocurrencies to the list of their 160 available currencies. The company is “uniquely positioned to help make cryptocurrencies more safe”, since it is a globally trusted brand with millions of customers. Visa’s plan is to divide the market in two segments: cryptocurrencies and digital currencies, namely upcoming central bank digital currencies. According to Kelly, “35 of the leading digital currency platforms and wallets have already chosen to issue Visa, including coin-based Crypto.com, BlockFi, Fold and BitPanda”, so adding cryptocurrencies to the list of Visa’s currencies would be a natural step to take.
