Will the pandemic response endanger our privacy?
The anti-money laundering (AML) company Smart Search has implemented a facial recognition feature in their Know Your Customer service.
The new fully automatic id verification platform will reduce the impact on firms that comes from the current movement restrictions employed to stop the spread of the virus. It is promising individual AML checks in just two seconds without the requirement of physical documentation in order to find any global sanction or political-exposure restrictions.
Social distancing will remain for some unforeseen time. Facial recognition can make us safer, but it is still unsure that this kind of remote services is safe enough and won’t lead to a substantial privacy loss.
